publicado los libros de ensayo Coin of the Realm (2004), The Art of Daring: Essays on the Art and Life of Poetry (2014) y, más recientemente, My Trade is Mystery: Seven Meditations from a Life in Writing (2022). Su obra ha sido reconocida con

numerosos premios, entre ellos el Lambda Literary Award por Pastoral (2000) y el Pulitzer Prize for Poetry por Then the War and Selected Poems, 2007-2020 (2022). Actualmente es profesor de lengua inglesa y escritura creativa en Washington University en San Luis, Misuri.
